PREMIERE PRO KEEPS ON CRASHING AND LAGGING EVEN IF INACTIVE

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing an extremely annoying and frustrating problem with Premiere.
All of a sudden, no matter if I'm playing a timeline or not, if I'm trimming or copying, all of a sudden Pemiere will crash for no reason (or so it seems).
The problem is that this happens on both my computer and the one used by the director.
We had been working smoothly for this entire but is has been a week since the start of this nightmare.

Here are my specs:

I'm working on Premiere Pro 2025.5
Production prjs uploaded and shared with the director online on Lucid Link
Production files (Auto Saves, and Previews), SFX and Music are uploaded on Lucid Link
Proxies are on an external  5TB La Cie HD

Hardware Overview:

  Model Name: MacBook Pro

  Model Identifier: Mac15,7

  Model Number: MRW23C/A

  Chip: Apple M3 Pro

Total Number of Cores: 12 (6 performance and 6 efficiency)

  Memory: 36 GB

  System Firmware Version: 10151.140.19

  OS Loader Version: 10151.140.19

  Serial Number (system): CHHJ4K9J5L

  Hardware UUID: C5F60499-0B92-5CE5-89AC-4E9BB6422475

  Provisioning UDID: 00006030-0002641A3A83001C

  Activation Lock Status: Enabled

I have already tried deleting all the cache files and reinstalling premiere.

ATTACHED IS THE CRASH REPORT PROVIDED DURING THE CRASH (How am I supposed to understand what it says?) and the Log report.

Please Help 🙏

At the moment we would like to avoid an upgrade being the production update a little more complicated to update than a single project.

Where is LucidLink caching to, and what connection type is it using? Are the Lucid files pinned to the cache?

Also worth trying as a test: move your production off LucidLink entirely onto a local drive and see if the crashes stop. If performance is stable without LucidLink in the picture, that points strongly to LucidLink configuration being the culprit.

Lucid link is caching inside the Machintach HD, we are connected through wifi and it is quite a poor connection. I’m not sure what you mean with Lucid files pinned to the cache, how shall I do that?

We tried moving the production completely to the our external Hard drive and disconnected from internet but the crash kept happening.

Now we are back at working on  Lucid Link.

The error that keeps making the machine crash is this:

[2026-06-17_17-26-32][0x16bfef000][Error] [console] [Hu-1] Failed to create/get SAMAssetContext: SAM init timed out

Lucid allows you to “pin” certain files to make sure they’re always being cached in the background.

It might also be worth checking your cache size to make sure there’s enough allocated space for your files: https://support.lucidlink.com/hc/en-us/articles/31124877604237-LucidLink-cache-best-practices-configuration

Does your workflow allow you to upgrade to the latest version of Premiere?

Can you try opening an old project and see if it crashes? I’m wondering if there might be a corrupt file in your Media.
