Premiere Pro Lag

Hi- just updated premiere pro to 2018 version. I'm still very new to all of this so I could use some help.

Also updated my mac. Experiencing a horrible lag that is keeping me from being able to edit. I minimized the quality to 1/4, cleared the cache, restarted my computer several times, updated, (not able to change video preview because it is greyed out), optimized as much memory as I could towards premiere pro (almost all of it)....and just dont know what else to do! The video is still totally lagging, none of this helped at all. I have to transfer everything to my hard drive to use with my new macbook pro anyway in the next few days. Should I just see if it will work better on this other computer? Or is there some issue that needs to be fixed? Thanks for your time.

Hi! I think I updated it to CC2018 after the fact because I realized I needed it for 4k footage or something like that?

I'm going to try this...Thanks!

Hi Taylor,

Sorry about this. I had a similar issue with an older CC2017 project I Imported into CC2018. Did you do the same? I found that copy/pasting the clips into a brand new sequence completely solved my issue. Can you try that?

Thanks,
Kevin

One problem I'm forgetting though- I never learned to choose sequence settings upon import, so all of my clips were just ported and edited, not having looked at settings and presets. I'm reading about how my camera, 4k footage, etc can affect what I need to select...So as I go ahead and create a new sequence, how should I do it all things considered, when it gives me all of these options? Thanks again!
