Premiere Pro, Mic screeching when doing voiceover recording

So I had an issue where after getting my computer fixed Premiere Pro was not doing playback or recording voiceover.

I got all of that fixed. Thank goodness!!!!

But now I have another issue. When I am recording voice over.
Please note I mute clips when doing so.

1. When I record with my mic, with audio through my BenQ monitor... I suddenly get a high pitch feedback screech that sounds worse than a banshee.
2. When I record with my mic, with audio through my headset... it records, with no feedback, but the audio seems to be recording slowly.

Any ideas what the issue might be?

I have asked ChatGPT but it keeps me on loop looking at the same things over and over and over again. AI really sucks at solving problems like this.

    In the end I gave up. I just had to cheat it. But it is not the way it was before. 
    So no idea why it is messed up.
    But now I switched Audio off while recording. I used to just to mute layers. But oh well it is what it is. As long as it works half way it is better than not working.

    Premiere doesn’t really have much ‘interna’ capabilities for audio control, and is sounds like it’s getting ‘hot’ signals. Maybe if your mic was connected through a standard USB port on the computer or a hub, that might help.

     

    And basically, for best oprations within Premiere, set the Preference for Audio Input to “none” … as then Pr simply uses the system’s acceptance and for most cases is more reliable.
