Premiere Pro performance issue: 8 GB RAM + i5 + 120 fps footage

I have bought a new Imac and ever since I have downloaded PP on it I have had nothing but issues. My footage is 1080p at 120fps second. When I just cut the clip o start putting my project together it is super laggy and not responsive. I tried everything from cleaning the media cache, changing my ram size, where it is being saved, the start up disk, low res, and literally anything else you can prob say but yet it is still lagging.

2017 - Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017 - processor - 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5

memory - 8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 - I know I should run at least 16 gigs of memory but I know that 8 gigs should get me by without major lag. It did on my 2011 Macbook pro

Graphics card - radeon Pro 560 4096 MB

    Correct answer Ann Bens

1080p 120 fps guessing this is action cam stuff. Most likely highly compressed.

    Might want to consider Proxies

An i5 is not a very powerfull cpu and 8 gig is a bit short.

Adding to the previous posts, try also to set your playback resolution to 1/2 or 1/4 while editing
