Question

Premiere Pro playhead has a mind of its own for playback

I can't get premire to play my timeline properly 30% of the time.  It starts playing and then can't be stopped by mouse clicks elsewhere.   Sometimes it can't be stopped by even the spacebar.   Its like it has a mind of its own once playback starts.  I just had this happen and i finally closed the project timeline in the group.    I use frame.io.   Is that why this thing is all messed up?   I like it, but not that much, give me a way to turn it on and off if it's the culprit.  And give me my Frame.io money back.

I confirmed in my case it was Frame.io linking.   the Frame.io workarea has keyboard controllable play and pause.   The timeline does to.   Depending which starts the play the other might lose control.   The timeline and playhead of premiere should always have primary control over start and stop.   That isn;t happening.    I don;t really want to provide more detail, i've provided enough for you to research your own product that is riddled with bugs and poor update choices.

It must be a different issue then.  Sometimes this has to do with the confiruation of any Transmit devices on the system.  Could you post screen shots of both of these preferences?
"Preferences>Audio Hardware..." and "Preferences>Playback..." so I can see how your system is set up?

I'm also investigating the FrameIO linking to see if that is the cause of the issue.

I'm on 23.5, so you obviously didn't fix it.  I found it seems to have something to do with Frame.io playhead linking.  As long as I have your attention can you please fix the dumb export tab and bring back the smooth operation of media encoder connections sent from premiere.  (Import / Edit / Export) Tabbed workspaces are the worst thing you've ever done to peremiere.

One of these options should be MEDIA ENCODER CONTROLLED EXPORT SETTINGS:

Hi @cliffclof,

What version of Premiere are you seeing this issue in?  We had a similar bug that was fixed in 23.5 release.  If you are using an earlier version, can you update and see if it is fixed?
