What are the hard drives (how many, what kind, what is on each, what capacity, and how full)?
Make sure to use the latest Studio Driver from NVIDIA (NOT the Game Driver).

 

What type of media (file type and codec)?

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:

Non of the above solves the issue. Redusing preview quality and clearing project cach files didn't help either

Try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.
