Premiere pro project is lagging

I am using Premiere Pro (PP) 24 version for editing on windows surface pro with 16GB RAM (13GB allocated for PP).  The video resolution is HD (1920x1080). The preview setting I am using is 1/4 with 50% fit. 
Is this lag because the ram or memory are not sufficient considering the resolution and the complexity of the project? 

 

Though I got 8GB GPU available but I believe GPUs sit idle unless I am using GPU accelerated programs/files. 

Is there any other solution other than upgrading hardware? 

 


Has anyone used any sort of online/web services for cloud based editing?

    Thanks for the questions and welcome to the forum. 

     

    Question 1: You have a problem with performance on the timeline. That can happen for a variety of reasons, most often related to highly compressed media. Can you tell us more details about your computer system and the media? Which camera shot the media, for example? If it is a mobile device, does the video have a variable frame rate? Have you tried creating proxies or transcoding the media?

     

    Question 2: You have a question about "cloud-based" video editing tools. I don't have a lot of information about that. Sorry about that. I hope the community will respond shortly.
