Premiere Pro stopped keeps crashing while rendering and exporting

🔧 1. Reset preferences and plug-ins

Quit Premiere.

Hold Option + Shift when launching Premiere until the splash screen.

This clears preferences and resets plug-ins that may be interfering.

If you use third-party plug-ins, try temporarily moving them out of Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore.

🔧 2. Use Software Encoding as a test

M1 hardware acceleration sometimes conflicts with new macOS builds.

Go to File > Export > Media > Video tab > Encoding Settings.

Set Performance: Software Encoding.

Export again. If this works, the crash is GPU-acceleration related.

🔧 3. Try exporting through Adobe Media Encoder (AME)

Send your sequence to AME instead of direct export.

Sometimes AME handles memory management better on M1 Macs.

🔧 4. Check Renderer setting

Go to File > Project Settings > General.

Under Renderer, switch between:

Metal GPU Acceleration

Mercury Playback Engine Software Only

Export again to test stability.

🔧 5. Turn off Optimize Rendering for Performance

In Preferences > Memory, try setting RAM reserved for other apps higher (e.g., 8–10GB).

In Preferences > Playback, disable “Enable hardware accelerated decoding/encoding (if available).”

🔧 6. Export smaller chunks

If it always fails “halfway,” it could be a corrupt clip or effect.

Try exporting the first half, then the second half of the timeline.

If one half fails, isolate the problematic section.

🔧 7. Update or roll back Premiere Pro

You said you tried older versions, but the most stable on M1 Macs right now tends to be 24.4.1 or 24.5.

Sometimes the newest release isn’t fully stable with macOS Sequoia yet.

🔧 8. Check macOS permissions

Premiere and AME need Full Disk Access to write/export properly.

Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access.

Add Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder.

🔧 9. Disable background GPU processes

If you use external monitors, unplug them and try exporting directly on the MacBook screen — external display management sometimes conflicts with GPU rendering on M1s.

🔧 10. Clean install (last resort)

If nothing else works:

1. Uninstall Premiere + Media Encoder with the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool.

2. Reboot.

3. Reinstall only Premiere + Media Encoder, no third-party plug-ins at first.

4. Test export on a blank sequence.

HI @gilian_6328 - Are you on version 25.4.1?  This issue has been fixed in beta version 25.6.0 build 54 or later and will be included in the next release of Premiere Pro version 25.5
