Premiere Pro + Stornext SAN performance issues

Hello team

We are editing with Premier Pro 24.1 reading the files in our NAS system, connected to Stornext, Xcellis, version 6.3. We have a lot of performance issues. The timeline it's not fluid and when we start to play and see the video in the Playback monitor, it starts to loose frames until it plays at 1fps. So, edit like this it's so hard and impossible to do. If we edit with the media in local storage all works well. This issue occurs whether we work with the original video files or with proxies.

So, there is any known issue between Premier reading files from Stornext NAS? It's connected to 10GB wire, and the copy to local it's so fast, so we think that the problem it's not the network.

No.

PPro is definitely designed to work with local and network files, but performance can vary wildly.

Peak throughput is rarely the issue; completely distinct from getting frames and audio samples from the file, PPro maintains a 'conversation' with an Importer plugin instance associated with each project item; those conversations can get rather chatty.

You say PPro starts to lose frames, down to 1fps; is the network becoming saturated, during that time?
