Premiere Pro Suddenly Not Recognizing BRAW Plugin

Hi Everyone, 

I usually edit BRAW videos using Premiere without any issues but today I received the following message when I attempted to import footage:

"Blackmagic Raw requires a plug-in"

I made sure to install the latest version of the plug in and I rebooted my system but I'm still getting this error. Any advice would be very appreciated!

Nevermind! Can't import .sidecar files. Not attempting to import those fixed the issue.

By the way, if you're using the BlackMagic freebie plugin, you're getting exactly the quality you're paying for.

 

I gave up and got the pretty low cost Autokroma BRAW Studio plugin. Which has more options and simply works. Always.

 

And by the way, Autokroma gives better asistance both on their website and online, like here, than BlackMagic does.

this Autokroma maffia, the braw plugin worked just fine, now we have to pay a serious amount just to make the plugin work!  In all the forums Autokroma is there to praise their product, it feels like we are being fooled. Just anwer how we get the plugin to work again in remiere, it wa just fine! The reviews are to thin and to positive to be real. Desperately making everyone buy their plugin. I dont like plugins to start with, adobe, blackmagic! You are making enough money to make your stuff work before selling. Oh sometimes I am so dissapointed that corruption is really in every little neach of life.

A rather puzzling ... comment.

 

You don't HAVE to buy the Autokroma plugin. You can use the freebie from BlackMagic. And for the small amount of the cost for the Autokroma plugin, you get a lot of added functionality. Very much worth the price of admission for anyone working professionally.

 

As someone who works for/with/teaches pro colorists, I find the way some editors scream about needing to buy a cheap plugin or two rather hilarious. Colorists work mainly in Resolve or Baselight, which both have extensive "libraries" of effects included. Actually far more than Premiere.

 

Yet ... nearly every colorist I know has at least one full suite of spendy effects, with a yearly hefty fee. Boris is the most common, nearly every colorist I know has a full Boris subscription. Maxon is next, either the Red Giant Universe or all of Maxon. Vfx people have typically 3-4 main suites they buy yearly. 

 

So colorists and Vfx folk are buying probably between $250 to $1,000 a year in plugins. Sometimes over $2,000 a year. In fact, there's a few specialized plugins that go for more than $2,000/year for that one tool.

 

But editors howl if they could usefully get one for $28. Just .... wow.

 

Well, different strokes for different folks ...
