Premiere Pro Terrible Keyframe Editor

I've attached a film so you understand better. But basically, I want to hold the camera without moving for a few seconds and then I want to move it again. This is IMPOSSIBLE to do, without the line curving or changing. I just want the line to be straight! But it's impossible.

 

And also, is there a way to toggle snapping or anything similar in order to modify the keyframe with more precision? Thanks.

Hi Philip,

The issue you described is due to the Position keyframes, not the Scale keyframes. With Position keyframes, you can control both temporal (e.g., easing in) and spatial (curved motion paths) interpolation.

To ensure your Position keyframe remains fixed and does not move, you should change the spatial interpolation to Linear. Here’s how:

  1. Select the Keyframe: Click on the Position keyframe in the Effect Controls panel.
  2. Right-click the Keyframe: This opens a context menu.
  3. Choose Spatial Interpolation: Select Linear from the options.


This adjustment ensures that the motion path between keyframes remains straight, preventing any unintended movement.

Hi Paul! Thanks for replying so quick:).

 

In the video, you can see that I actually tried to use a linear keyframe, but it still didn't work. 

And are you sure the problem is not related to the scale interpolation? If you look closely at the position interpolation at the top you'll see that it's an ease in curve with no abrupt movements. Whereas my scale interpolation is curved in the middle. 

What I want is for the space between keyframe 1 and 2 to be a flat path, no curves at all.

If it's the Scale keyframe causing the issue, try this:

1. Select both Scale keyframes and set them to Linear.
2. Select the left Scale keyframe and set it to Ease In.
3. Select the right Scale keyframe and set it to Ease Out.
4. You can still adjust the Velocity to control the speed of the ease.
