Question

Premiere Pro timeline clips jumping between channels when moving

I’m having a few frustrating issues in Premiere Pro VERSION 25.2.3 on my MacBook Pro M3 (48GB RAM). When I try to move clips around on the timeline, they keep jumping between tracks unpredictably, almost like they're "magnetised" to the wrong channels. The snapping feature also feels way less precise than usual. I’ve tried rebooting, resetting preferences, and it’s not a mouse issue as I’m using the touchpad too. On top of that, double-clicking to preview footage in the source monitor is super unresponsive, it takes multiple tries and a noticeable delay before anything loads. It’s really slowing down my workflow. Anyone else having this or know of a fix?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hi Johnny Hendrikus,

Sorry to hear about this. Is this happening with any specific project or all of them? Also, is your workspace split across multiple monitors? If so, have you tried resetting the workspace & using it on the primary monitor to see if it's working properly?

Thanks.
