Premiere pro timeline freezing

For the last week my timeline will not do a playback. I can watch the video on the timeline but the timeline itself does not have the playhead move. Every time I try to edit a layer or zoom in or out of the timeline it just freezes and I have to touch the top of the timeline to get it to show the changes. I uninstalled premiere and reistalled it and it's not fixing it.
