Premiere Pro timeline function

Question

In Premiere Pro, what is the red left bracket with a black double headed arrow running horizontally through it? This feature highlights portions of sequences in the timeline. I accidentally making it appear and I don't know how to make it go away because I don't know what it is.

Highlighted area can be used for quite a number of actions such as playing just that area (play video in to out)

You can make it disappear by hitting ctrl-shift-X or dropdown window Markers > clear in to out.

You should go to their Help files …that is very basic, one of themaintools for cutting clips together. There are cut ‘types’ called rolling, slipping, and others, and you need to learn how to use each to get proficient at basic timeline work.They have both the text Help files, and tons of videos on their help system showing how to do many things.
