Question

Premiere Pro unable to open working file from a previous IP address

Hello everyone,

Recently i had my work PC upgraded to a larger SSD and with a new graphics card, and my work has changed their NAS server IP address. Ever since, Premiere has been unable to open any project files created or containing media from the previous IP address. When I launch these project files, the loading bar upon opening stays at about 75% and hangs.

I found a way to work around it by copying and pasting the project file into my Desktop folder, pulling out the ethernet cable to connects me to the server, opening the now offline project file in my Desktop folder and once Premiere opens the file and asks to link the missing media, I will have to plug the ethernet cable back in and relink the missing media.

This is obviously a major hassle and inconvenience when you work on 3 or more projects a day. Does anyone know what the issue could be and if there's a solution to this?

Thanks,

Hi, jessedvauz,

Sorry about the trouble. Once media is relinked, does it stay linked? I hope so. If one changes the name of the hard drive where the media resides, you will have to relink it at least once, I'm afraid. If you continually have to do it, then your NAS may have something amiss. Work with your IT rep and see if you can troubleshoot the connectivity between the NAS and your computer system. Sometimes if the system clocks are not aligned, you can have continual issues with relinking media. That is a recurring issue I see from time to time. I hope we in the community can help you.

Thanks,
Kevin
