Premiere Pro v.22 projects hanging on Windows PC

Mod note: Mac user had similar issue, as follows: "I have a <Windows PC and PP 2022>. Current projects and new ones keep crashing. Hanging on the spinning wheel of death. Once PP was forced to quit, the projects seem to be totally corrupted and inaccessible. I have to then create a new project and import the old one, only for it to happen again after a few seconds. I have not ever even experienced this level of problems on my <previous systems>. I am using the same hardrives as before with exactly the same settings."

I am having the exact same issue on a Windows 10 ThinkPad T480S.

Here are my specs:

  • Thinkpad T480s
  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8650U CPU @ 1.90GHz   2.11 GHz
  • RAM: 16GB
  • OS: Windows 10 Enterprise

This is happening to everyone in my office as well. I have not even tried to convert an older file, only working off of brand new projects and having the same issue. After Premiere becomes unresponsive, the entire OS also becomes unresponsive... leaving the only option to do a hard reboot.

So Adobe, please address this issue.

Hi,

Sorry. This sounds more like a project specific and/or system maintenance issue, as I don't see these issues.

Try deleting media cache with all projects closed, and then trashing preferences, James. These are common steps you should perform after updating Premiere Pro. Does that work for you? Let us know if you need help with either of these things.

In the future, make sure to avoid updating projects from one major version to the next (v.15 to v.22 was a major jump in versions). Delete media cache and trash preferences between major updates to the software so that new projects can begin with new media cache.

Projects that must be updated and cannot remain in the version they were created in will also benefit from new media cache in the new version.

To Adobe, please address this issue.

Hope the advice helps, but I am in support and this is only a user to user forum. If you wish to have the Premiere Pro product team address the issue, go here, please: https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911233-premiere-pro

Thanks,
Kevin
