Premiere Pro v15 - Performance issues - iMac 2010 i7 12GB Ram Nvidia 4Gb

Hi,

I do have a iMac 2010 i7 12GB Ram Nvidia 4Gb and I'm using the version 15 of premiere pro (2021).

I'm struggling to edit my videos. It's a little slow for editing, I can barely make the cuts... Premiere is bottlenecked on my iMac.

I do start do edit a project ,but seems like i'll need to give up of that. Since i have no idea on what to do here.

I was wondering if you guys have any tips or tricks to improve performance, or even a older link version to share.

Thanks in advanced.

Is this the 27-inch 2010 iMac?  I used to have the i5 version of it.  It was a great all-in-one computer for Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

It should handle single stream 1080p ProRes from Thunderbolt attached storage well under macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 and Premiere Pro 2019 version 13.1.5; however, unless that version is already installed or was installed in the past, I don't know of a way to configure that combination.

As far as going to older versions of Premiere Pro is concerned, CS6 version 6.0.5 should run well under macOS Mavericks 10.9.5; however, that would need to be the perpetual version (non-subscription) with a valid serial number.

Rather than getting older versions of Premiere Pro to work on an older iMac that may still be functioning well, I'd upgrade to a 24-inch iMac with Apple Silicon, even a used, base configuration M1 model that's in good condition.

If you have to stick with the 2010 iMac, it might be easier to track down Final Cut Pro 7 (part of Final Cut Studio 3) which will run well from macOS Mavericks 10.9.5 to macOS Sierra 10.12.6.

Yeah, I hear about it, but I never actually try it.
I just ask for the support to send me a link with a V15 of the media encoder to work with premiere. I did the download and now i'm waiting for the conversion of the files. (I make a mistake - part of my footage is  in 4k LOL) but, if works for 4K it will easily works for FHD.

I also realized that, uninstalling and installing the app again make things run a little better.

Anyway, I'll come back with my results using proxies.

Well, it's good you are trying to use an older version of the software. But, it's going to be tough, and probably slow as you are seeing. There's not a lot you can do with older hardware like that. Scan the web / google, also the Hardware forum, see if there are any suggestions.
