Premiere Pro Won't Stop After Playing

My Premiere pro has been severely buggy for approximately 6 months.  I've tried to fix this issue multiple times and I can't find a solution.  I've tried the following:

Downgraded from Premiere Pro V 23.2 to V 22.6.4:  It did not fix the issue.  It still occurs in V22.6.4

Updated my Nvidia drivers to version 531.61: It did not fix the issue.

Toggled on "Preview Area" inside the Project Panel:  It did not fix the issue.

Toggled my audio devices from headphones to system speakers: It did not fix the issue.

I'm at the point where if I can't fix this by this week, I'll need to say good-by to Premiere Pro and move on to new editing software (likely Divinci Resolve).

I've spent so long learning this software, all of my plugins are extremely beneficial and I'll miss them.  But the issue is, I can't play video back without my premiere pro crashing.  I edited a YouTube short yesterday and I counted 19 times I had to restart Premiere Pro.  This was a 48 second YouTube Short.  It's not sustainable so if anyone could please help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

My specs:

Windows 11 64-bit

HP ENVY Laptop 15t-ep000

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz

16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti

Hi,

1. Do this > reset Preference, Clear media Cache files, Delete Temp files from system. restart system.

2. Change Render mode to " Software Only" from File > Project setting > General.

Lets us know if its works.

Thanks,

Suraj.

Thanks so much for the reply, Suraj.  The specific area of the timeline in the last project I was working on where this was issue was happening seems to be fixed after I did the following:

1. Reset Preferences

2. Changed to " Software Only" from File > Project setting > General.

  • Alternatively, this seems to be working using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA) as well.

Do you know if this is an issue directly caused by Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (OpenCL)?

What is the downside of using "Software Only" or (CUDA) over (OpenCL)?

Thanks,
