Question

Premiere Sequence to Audition not working.

The process packs and trims the audio files into a directory; opens Audition; but then fails to open the multitrack, reporting a non-helpful generic error. After reinstalling several times, both Premiere and Audition with various versions; still failed.

Worked with support; cleared prefrences, archived common directorie, and reinstalled Premiere—still wouldn't work.

Work around was to go back to Premiere after the failure in Audition and save the project to a new filename; then in Audition open the new project file. It worked; but there were some clips out of sync? Could have been an issue with the sequence?

I ended up mixing in Premiere; editing out single clips into Audition and saving there; which were reflected in back in Premiere. One caveat; if the "Edit Clip in Adobe Audition" is dimmed, do a "Render and Replace" and try again.

Hope this helps.

As a follow up. I had a chance to test this out on my next project and everything went the same way as described above, with the following exception. I thought I would verify what files were being opened by Audition and discovered that the files which were being used were not the files produced by the "Edit in Audition..." process I had run before; but the original files PP was using. My mistake. So essentially you could simply open the PP project in Audition and get the same results.

Hi sgscott,

Sorry for this negative experience and that our staff could not get you back on track. Hope we can help. I have asked the product management and engineering staff to take a look at your issue. Unfortunately, they are away at a conference so a response may take some time.

If I were in your situation, I'd make a brand new "test" project to see if you can reproduce the issue. Please also upload any project files exhibiting as I am sure our staff may be asking you for that. I can also pass on the link for faster service.

Let me check your case notes, as well. I need to pass those on to our staff.

Sorry again for the issue.

Thank You,
Kevin

Hi Kevin. Thanks for the interest. I am still having the problem though. Sending the PP sequence to Audition fails to create a session in Audition. Opening a PP project in Audition is not the answer. A sequence needs to be translated in Audition to a session, otherwise segments of files are not placed properly and are out of sync. One segment will be right and the other instances out of sync. I do, however like how stereo tracks are kept stereo in Audition when the PP project is opened in Audition, rather than two mono tracks as when sending the PP sequence to Audition.
