Premiere stalls after I've imported an .mp4 file. Fine through 2026-05 but since 2026-07 has stalled and freezes the entire computer. I want to create transcripts and captions. Have uninstalled and re-installed...same problem.

I’ve used Premiere 2024, 2025, 2026 on Windows 11.  Through May 2026 I had no problems.  Now, in July 2026, if I open Premier and try to import an .mp4 (in order to create captions), about 5 seconds after the import, Premiere stalls/freezes - affecting the whole computer - and I have to do a hard shutdown and restart the computer.  Opening Premiere again will show a red box saying Premiere closed incorrectly.  Saying ‘resume’ does the same thing.  Cancelling that allows me to import again...with the same result.
