Premiere timeline into Audition - retain source media link?

For work I have to edit 1-2 hour long talks where I have to cut out certain sentences. I was doing it in Premiere so I could use a transcription and other shortcuts but they want us to do it in Auditon multitracks.


We would use Premiere but it turns out when you bring a Premiere XML timeline into Audition, it will RENDER OUT WAV files of all your cuts instead of keeping the source mp3 intact . I tried making a Phython code to have Audition bring in a Premiere timeline and link the original source audio but that also failed. ANY feedback is greatly appreciated!! Just want to import the cuts I made in Premiere into Audition WITHOUT rendering out wave files, just want the edit information and linked to the original source mp3.

    No need to export an XML, you can open a .prproj file directly inside Audition. It will directly reference the same files in the Premiere project.

    I WISH that were the case!! I just tried. In Audition, File > Open and selected my Premiere project and then told it which timeline. It then proceeds to load the mp3s and you can notice in the project bin it begins to process files....

     

    into NEW . WAVs (possibly for sample rate reasons??)

    !!

    IF only there was a way to not have this happen. We are working off of a server and we need to reference files on the server and not have multiple new multi gigabyte wav files spawning. Please let me know if I am missing something here..

    While typing this out I solved the problem...

    the sample rates!

    The mp3 files on our server are 22hz, when I try the workflow with a 44hz mp3 it does in fact import into Audition while maintaining the link to the source mp3

    Thanks for the question. I appreciate the workflow you would like to have. I've not had time to try it yet, but have you explored exporting the sequence as an AAF or OMF? That may work better. Let me know if that experiment works for you. I hope so!

    Hi,

     

    I looked at both of those options and it looks like that pops up a menu for rendering out the audio (as new files). What I want to accomplish is a transition from Premiere to Audition WITHOUT rendering a new file i.e. source the same mp3 .

    What happens if the .mp3 source files are inside the Audition project. Does it work then?
