Premiere V24.0 = absolutely abysmal

Question

Every premiere update mentions the fastest version yet, the most powerful version yet. and anyone who uses premiere understands how unreliable these updates can be.

I updated– excited for the lumetri panel settings, working in quicktime as opposed to broadcast, to finally get the color i'm working on the timeline the same as my delivery.

But man...at first the program wouldn't open. took a few different tries to get it up and running.

The timeline was the slowest i've encountered it in years. Completely unresponsive to scrub or color.

And when trying to transcribe some interviews the program crashed multiple times.

Please for the love of god put out an update to resolve just how unresponsive this latest version is. and please do your customers a favor and do something about how terrible these updates can be. the new features are great but all editors would just once like to edit without the hassle of crashing or rebooting to do our work.

There are always some things that are messed up for some users with any release. But most users are doing fine.

So ... to troubleshoot, did you ...

on first launch of the new version, dump the cache ... manually or by holding down the Shift key and selecting that option? ..
did you create a new project in the new version and test that for your system, media, and workflow? ...
did you migrate forward by creating a new project, and then importing the assets of a 23.x version project into it, or simply 'open' the 23.x project in the new version? ...
since you've had troubles, have you dumped the cache files?

You may have hit something that is off with the program. But the higher probability is the something that's off is on your rig. Sorting that out either way is the first step here.
