Question

Premiere Will Not Open AVI Fraps Recordings

AVI files that I recorded in Fraps result in te "Unsupported format or damaged file" message when importing. The files play fine inside of VLC. I tried converting them using AME but I'm getting a corrupt file error when importing them into there as well.

The files themselves were recorded on my main desktop PC and I'm getting these errors when importing on my video editing Windows laptop.

Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?

Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... A screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing - For Windows Internet Explorer press the PRINT SCREEN button on your keyboard, and then do CTRL-V to paste the screen print from the clipboard into a forum message

Your problem MAY be that H.264 will not work inside an AVI wrapper http://forums.adobe.com/thread/854115
