PremierePro Override Media Color Space Problem

Hi everyone,

for a while now I’ve been running into a problem with Sony S-Log footage in Premiere Pro.

My usual workflow was:

  • Import Sony S-Log footage

  • In the Project panel: right-click the clips → Modify → Color

  • Enable Override Media Color Space

  • Select Sony S-Log3 / S-Gamut3.Cine

This always worked fine in the past and immediately converted the footage out of the flat log look.

However, this no longer works at all:

  • The override is selectable, but nothing changes visually

  • Even if I intentionally choose a completely wrong color space, there is no effect

  • Restarting Premiere, new projects, different clips – same result

So it seems the Override Media Color Space is being ignored entirely.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Is this a known bug or a change in Premiere’s color management?
And if this function is broken now: what is your current, technically correct way to convert Sony S-Log3 to Rec.709 in Premiere Pro?

What confuses me most is that I can barely find anyone online describing this exact behavior.

Thanks a lot for any insight.

Do you have the other settings such as auto detect log and auto tonemapping On?

Color management is far more extensive now and the whole system needs to be set correctly for your needs. As many of the controls are interactive with other choices.
