Preview is lagging with 240fps videos

Hello,

I'm new to premiere pro, and trying to figure it all out. But, I experience a lot lag when previewing video with higer fps (240). Is this normal, or is there any settings I just change to make the preview smooth?

Or, is this a computer issure? My computer runs intel i7-13700, 64gb ram, and RTX 3060TI.

Thanks 🙂

Awesome replies there, Pj!

250fps from a drone is killer media, long-GOP and very many frames. So as Pj says, Speed/Duration down to fit on 23.976 or 24fps sequences is a good thing. Probably helps.

BTW, what are you shooting with? The footage is very stable, well done. 🙂

It's not bad hardware. I don't have any 240fps clips to try, but what are you doing with them? You probably want to export to a 30 or 60 fps final video. Usually 30 is standard. So, in sequence settings you would not want your sequence to be 240fps.

Thank for you reply. I'm just trying to cut it down, and make it slow motion. But it's really hard to do so, when its lagging so bad... 😕😕

If you have a short bit, you can upload to google drive or such, I can try it here. I'm on a 12th gen with a 4070.
