Preview panel won't show visuals, turns to black screen with only sound

My preview panel won't show me my video's visuals. When I press play on my clip, I will hear the sound of the clip and see a black screen. When I press pause/stop the visual will come back. My imported clip is an mp4 that I copied off a USB stick. Other mp4 videos from my camera play just fine in the same project. The mp4 in question plays fine everywhere (including in my main project sequence) except for the preview, any leads?
