Preview screen turns black all of a sudden

I am editing a mix of footage in PP version 2017.0.1. Every now and than all of a sudden my preview screen turn black. No matter to which point I scroll to in my time line I will not get any picture, just a black screen.

Once I restart PP it is back again.

Any idea?

Solved the problem by updating to latest NVIDIA drivers. Lucky though

Do not count on Windows to be fully up to date when it comes to device drivers

Go to the vendor site to be sure you have an updated driver for your graphic adapter

•nVidia Driver Downloads http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

•ATI Driver Autodetect http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool

There are also intermittent reports that the newest driver is not always the best driver due to driver bugs or compatibility issues, so you MAY need to try an earlier driver version

I am not running latest NVIDIA drivers though. So my hope would be to solve this issue by updating to the latest divers in the end Does PP latest version fix problems like that?

Honestly, this is an issue that will ALWAYS be present - the delicate balance between operating system version, Premiere version, and graphic card driver versions is exactly that - delicate. There is ALWAYS the chance that updating one or another could cause some unexpected issue. It's not even necessarily Adobe or Microsoft's or NVIDIA's fault. There are too many variables sometimes to easily point fingers. So you follow the important rules of thumbs like don't update during big projects and make sure you have solid backups of everything - just in case!
