Problem accessing Project created on PC & shared on Google Drive with Mac user

I shared my Project with the lab that is digitally mastering my film on Google Drive.  They are getting a message saying Premiere is unable to open the project as it was created on a later version than what they have.  I started a subscription to Premiere Pro CC in November 2016 and they are running Premiere Pro CC 2017 11.0.2 on their system.  I created the project on my PC and they have a Mac.  Their version appears to be a later one than mine but the message seems to state that they are running a version that is earlier than mine.  That said, I assume my version is continually updating to whatever the most current release is.  Is it possible I have a later release than what they have?  Is it possible it's a Mac vs PC problem?  Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi, thank you for following up.  The lab opened Premiere on a different computer and they were able to access the Project.  The problem was on their end, not mine.  I don't know why they could not initially open the Project.  I'm uncertain as to how to reflect this question has been answered.  Should I mark my own post as the correct answer?

Since I can't downward open a file from V11.0.2 to V11.0.  Is there a way to load V11.0 to my PC.

The problem is the school's Pro version is older than mine at home.  I purchased the program to be

able to work from home, but the school isn't keeping their computers updated with the latest version.

So now I'm stuck and after paying for the program, I can't even use it.

Yes, in the CC Desktop app. As they're the same build series, you'll need to use the CC Desktop app to uninstall the current PrPro, then from the CC app after re-booting, when you install you can select the version of 11 that you wished to install.

You shared both the project file and the media? Or just the project file.

Try zipping the project file and then placing it on Google drive and have them unzip it on their end.

Thanks, I will try this, and mark this answer as correct if it works.  But it sounds like something is wrong on their end if they can't open my project with their newer version.

Hi Bartonlew,

Their version appears to be a later one than mine but the message seems to state that they are running a version that is earlier than mine.

Please check for the version numbers from the help menu.

If you want to share your project across different machines make sure that you have the same version installed.

Note: Premiere Pro projects are not backward compatible.

Is it possible it's a Mac vs PC problem?

It can't be, you will be able to open your projects on both of these platforms.

Thanks,

Kulpreet Singh

Thank you.  When I go to Help at the bottom of that screen it says 11.0.0.  At the top it says 2017 release.  The lab tells me they are running 11.0.2.  Is the reason they can't open the Project because I am on a prior version?  If so, do I need to manually update my version (I thought that was supposed to happen automatically with a subscription)?

thank you,

barton

11.0 was the first release of the 2017/11.x builds.

11.0.2 is a subsequent partial update, but ... a project worked within 11.0.2 cannot be opened in 11.0.

So yes ... you'd need to upgrade.
