Problem with Choppy playback on TL with 120fps footage with all the right camera settings

Question

Why is my footage that was shot in 120 fps, shutter speed (1/240), playing back choppy on my Timeline once I slow it down in premiere? I am not interpreting the footage. I am simply, slowing down the clip to 20% and as soon as I do that, playback becomes extremely choppy. Happens even after I render my clip green! The playback is fine at 100% speed, only when I slow the clip down to 20%. I have never had this issue before today. Please someone help!
