Problem with new data-driven Motion Graphics templates(not-english localized Premiere)

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a problem (and a possible solution) I encountered, using PremierePro CC2019 new feature "data-driven Motion Graphics templates".

I'm currently running a localized version ('italian') of Cloud Apps (Premiere, After Effetcs..), so... not English.

I tried to download and use in PremierePro one of the new data-driven Motion Graphics templates, in my example this one -Data Driven Vertical Bar Graph Infographic - but the same applies to all the others on the Adobe Stock: it simply doesn't work!

To cut short:

  • Opened the original .mogrt in After Effects -it doesn't work neither there...
  • Verified a lot of errors regarding expressions (by the way,  I was expecting it...)
  • Verified that these new data-driven Motion Graphics templates rely on expressions that point to imported .csv files and their properties ("Data", "Number of rows"...)
  • Here is the problem: in localized versions (or as far as I know, in 'italian' version) parts of the expression are not translated!

In these projects I find something like

"thisComp.layer("XXX.csv")("Data") "

or

"thisComp.layer("XXX.csv")("Data")("Number of Rows") "

and it doesn't work beacuse it should be

"thisComp.layer("XXX.csv")("Dati") "

or

"thisComp.layer("XXX.csv")("Dati")("Numero di righe") "

Solution: I scanned all the expressions in the projects, "translated" manually (retyped) all the wrong content, saved, exported as MOGRT , re-imported in Premiere and.. voilà! it works!!

Questions:

1) does it happens only in italian version or other non english user have the same problem?

2) The whole MOGRT procedure was created to let the average PremierePro user NOT to dig into AE technicalities (such as expressions), but the result is not effective... (I didn't try to reinstall the apps in english, in theory it should work, but this way the localized version are useless... !?!?!?!)

Hope it helps someone out there with the same problem, and hope Adobe find a way to "translate" AE expressions for all localized versions...

bye

Emanuele
