Problem with viewing HDR video on windows 10

Hello!

So I have my iPhone 13pro and I have been experimenting with HDR. I have a laptop with an OLED HDR display, the HP Spectra. It plays HDR videos on youtube and videos that I download (Mkv format). However, when I export HDR videos from premier and view it on my Laptop, the whites are washed out. Now all my settings are correct, I AM using mp4 265, 2100 PQ, Main 10, MAX bit depth, etc... And the HDR video is working great when I transfer it back to my iPhone and when I upload it to youtube. it's only washed out when I view it on my laptop windows 10.

It seems that the problem is in my video, does windows 10 not support viewing HDR when it comes to MP4 265? what format should I export in to be able to watch it on my laptop? Keep in mind that I tried to export .mov and 264 in HDR and they are not even playing on my windows. But again, they play find on youtube.

Thanks for helping in advance.

HLG is supported by far more screens than PQ. So that's probably the situation you're getting.

PQ sets a more 'detailed' data-set in the file for the screen to use. So the screen and or player need to know how to handle that data. As has been explained in the "simplified" version by one of the top color space experts I've heard ...  HLG simply is remapped to the screen brightness.

A much simpler if less precise process.

So the stuff you've heard has probably assumed one wants to work with PQ for the 'absolute quality' control you can get. But then, DolbyVision is even better ... and works also on a LOT fewer screens than HLG.

So at this time, unless you're going for pro work ... I'd suggest staying with HLG.

Note. I tried exporting in HLG instead of PQ, it worked fine. Why? everyone was saying that I should use PQ to export! whats the difference and why PQ didn't work? Thanks
