Productions: Point clip on timeline to other media in different project
Hi there,
One of the benefits of Premiere Productions, is that you can stuff away media in Project 1 and create a single sequence in Project 2, containing all the media from Project 1.
Once a project within Productions crashes and you import a sequence the wrong way from a recovery file being saved outside of the Productions (because saving it within Productions results in Duplicate IDs), it also copies a bunch of the original media with it.
So part of the files on the sequence still connect to the original Project 1, but part of the files are copied along with the sequence into Project 2. From there on, the sequence will only see a connection to the files in Project 2 and not in Project 1 (where they also can be found).
What you basically want, is to then reconnect the clips on the sequence within Project 2 to not link to the copies of the media within Project 2, but to the media in the original Project 1.
Right now, I've started to manually replace the media (by deleting a clip from Project 2, remembering the position and start/end timecode, than adding the clip from Project 1), but it made me wonder if there isn't a quicker way.
So in short: once a clip within Productions is added to a timeline, can you change the path to where it tries to link back to, even within another project? Making the media offline only gives you the option to relink it to the media itself on the storage device. I'm really talking about the second linking route (within Premiere itself). The 'reveal in Project' part.
Thanks!
