Program Monitor Doesn't Play Footage

Here's all what I did, which is pretty standard workflow over here:

Resized the sequence to fit short form content standards, scene edit detection on the larger edit to find the cuts, send to After Effects to track the faces, send the sequence back to Premiere, and then transcribe the captions.  Now the program monitor won't play the edit, even though I can still scrub through them just fine.  When I push play, it just sits there.

This was not happening prior to the recent update.
