Program Monitor shows clip but doesn't play

Question

Hello All,

I haven't found a similar issue here yet, it seems most have a black or empty Program Monitor. In my case, the clip appears in Program Monitor and I can grab the slider and move it around and the video moves accordingly but nothing happens when I press the play button. It changes from the triangle to the square and back again but nothing happens. I've tried various previous projects, new projects, etc. and just updated Premiere Pro. There doesn't appear to be any system conflict issues via "Help|System Compatibility Report" and Premiere Pro has worked on this computer before. The problem seemed to appear in more recent updates but if I go back to the oldest version 2018, the Program Monitor still doesn't advance.

Not sure what in the system might affect this but the computer is a Dell XPS 8910 w/ processor Intel i7-6700, 16GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750Ti.

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:

If that doesn't work,try resetting the preferences:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn’t work, try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean install of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver).

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Unfortunately, the GTX 750 Ti does not have a Studio Driver available.  Premiere Pro might work with the Game Ready Driver, but that may be causing your issue.
