Question

Project Manager not reducing clips and adding handles

SYSTEM: MacOS Big Sur (Mac Pro 2013)

PREMIERE: Version 23.6.0 (Build 65)

I have actually had this issue for quite a while, so this isn't something new. When I try to use Project Manager to take the  clips from a completed Sequence and transcode the use portions plus handles the system just exports the entire clip in full, making what should be a reduced project into the same size as the original.

For example, if I have a 30 minute clip from a conference and used only 20-seconds of a speaker for a highlight reel then used Project Manager to export that clip with 2-second handles, instead of getting a 24-second transcoded clip I get the entire 30 minute clip.

It is a frustrating practice because I have tried in so many ways to tell the system to just transcode what is on the chosen sequence with handles and it just transcodes everything.

Shebbe's right, Plumepack does what we all wish Project manager could.

One notable limitation of Project Manager, is that they can't 'cut' any H.264/5 long-GOP media down, because PM can't sort out where the iframes are. And what other segments may be needed to recreate the frames between them, one major issue with long-GOP media. So no H.264/5 will get trimmed at all, by Project Manager.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...

Pr Pro's manager is very primitive, outdated and sluggish for modern standards. I would recommend https://www.autokroma.com/PlumePack/

The paid version offers much of the needed features for proper packing and consolidating.

I've moved your post from Creative Cloud Desktop to Premiere Pro for you.
