Ahhh ... Dropbox.
That's unfortunate. Their service is not completely setup to transfer files as video apps need the files moved, as in what is sent in what order of the file. Dropbox is more designed for text files, and their system tends to send whatever is easiest first or something like that, rather than everything in order.
So add in that in local folders shared with Dropbox, it goes through every few minutes and adds a flag to the file header that it's been checked and that change to the file header can confuse Premiere's understanding of the file it is trying to link to.
From having tried it, I cannot recommend that. There simply will be problems. For at least some users.
We went to LucidLink because that service was designed from the get-go for the transfer of video files to video post apps. Intelligently. My partner is in Cape Town, SA, I'm in western Oregon ... he's all Mac, I'm all PC. Our joint media and projects live on Amazon S3 servers in London.
He calls me that he's uploading, I go to my file manager, and see that LucidLink's "virtual" drive, that the OS and programs see as local, is showing the folder. Then within seconds, files start appearing.
A minute later, I go to Premiere, and import files. Drop onto a sequence. Get playback.
Of files that haven't finished upoading from Cape Town to London yet ... rather stunning.
And it just works ... always. Plus they have awesome support on their Slack channel.
