Project overexposed/oversaturated after rendering

Some of my clips get blown out or overexposed after I render in Premiere - it affects the exported footage as well. The footage usually changes in preview --once I render In and Out and once exported/ played back through QuickTime Player and Google Drive. In AfterEffects the footage will sometimes look normal and sometimes it will look overexposed in AE preview too. How do I make sure the rendered and exported footage is the same as shown in preview - or even the same as the footage uploaded - because the exported footage changes even if I do not apply color effects.

(In a previous render, this issue only affected one uploaded video, the others exported as normal but now all clips are affected.)

Ann is correct, color management is the key here ... and of course, understanding that QuickTime player is normally considered the least accurate color representation available. Oh, and Macs without Reference modes set to HDTV ... will not correctly display SDR/Rec.709 video files.

As the Macs without Ref modes will show the Rec.709 using an incorrect display gamma, making the image much lighter. Than seen on virtually any other screen out there, from PCs/Androids/TVs, all broadcast-compliant systems, and ... Macs with Reference modes set to HDTV.

So ... are you on a Mac? If so, do you have Reference modes or not? How are you evaluating the image ... in a video player, or inside Premiere? What do you have the viewer gamma set to in Premiere? And what is the media, color space and dynamic range, your full color management settings top to bottom of the Lumetri panel’s Settings tab ...the tab named Settings.

    Everyone's mileage always varies ...
