Projects freeze and will not export - Lumetri?

Hey folks...

My project exports in Media Encoder with NO Lumetri effects applied. However, I obviously really want to use them and have colored my film in full!

With the Lumetri effects still applied, Media Encoder and Premiere both freeze and crash at certain points during an export. It's usually the same spot - but sometimes, it's different. Was unable to render the entire film - had to render in small batches finally. Have tried removing LUTS from suspect clips to no avail during attempted export. When I cancel the export, media encoder crashes.

I've tested by removed all Lumetri effects and the video HAS exported - but I obviously want those, because that's what I'm coloring with. Clearly this is linked to the Lumetri. Help!

2017.1.2

I also get lots of "ImporterMPEG (Importer:39)" and "low level exception lumetri" errors.

So, I'm using .cube LUTs that I've made myself and exported from lightroom using a 3rd party plugin......

I've copied them into the corresponding folder within the Premiere and Media Encoder folders. So, as suspect as this may sound, the same exact LUTs will work sometimes, and not other times. Each time this happens, it's almost always at the exact spot in the project - and even if I remove the LUT from the clip I think is the problem, it still freezes. Am, I making sense...

First, do not put "outside" LUTs/Looks in the Creative folder in the Lumetri folder tree in the program, as that is problematic since 2015.3 (the first 10.x build). You can still drop your LUTs/Looks in the Technical folder, but the Creative folder ... they've changed the way the app links to stuff in those folders, and adding something else can get screwy results in odd ways.

If the LUTs/Looks you create are stored in your Library folder on disc and accessed via the "Custom" option, or stored in some other place that's easy to find ... once you've used that Custom option to navigate there, it should go back there any time you select Custom. And further, you don't need to then put them someplace else for AME, it will read them fine from that one folder.

Second ... I would take those LUTs you've created, apply them one at a time to a "clean" uncorrected clip, then use the hamburger menu of the Lumetri tab itself to export a .cube LUT, name it appropriately, and use that LUT created by Lumetri. It should do exactly the same thing, but ... Lumetri should work with it better.

Hi Ericfrankcinema,

I am sorry that you are facing trouble in exporting your graded sequence in Premiere Pro.

Please share your system specs & OS version.

Check if you can export your sequence after changing the video renderer:

  • Open your project, click on File > Project settings > General and change video renderer to 'Software Only Mode' and delete previews.

Thanks,

Hey,

So, admittedly my system is very outdated. Ironically, I'm scrapping it and building new this week, but I need to deliver some projects now.

Windows 10

Intel core i7-2600k

24 RAM

GeForce GT 430

I am currently using Software Only Mode. What's frustrating is 1 minute videos will encode properly, but 3-5 minute videos get stuck, and crash. I've tried exporting the sequence as an XML to export in an older version of premiere but my frame rate settings don't carry over.

thanks!

Which PrPro version ... number-dot-number ... are you using?

And which LUTs/Looks are in use in the spot where it crashes? Some of the older LUTs/Looks that came with say 2015.1/2 can cause instabilities in 2017 & 2018.
