ProRes Raw, not usable yet
I just got sent a bunch of footage from an eager client that shot in pro res raw and is editing in Premiere. They are excited because they can finally import their pro res Raw clips, and I can begin VFX in After effects.
And then we imported the footage...and it's really not a useable workflow.
We have the .mxf files that were used to edit the project together, and the ProRes Raw clips look hyper colorful contrasty and blown out in comparsion.
Yes, I am able to color correct the clips back to the log setting that was used in camera, but this is on a clip by clip basis, and it makes no sense. Why am I not able to see the original log footage? This is extremely frustrating, and of course why I have avoided shooting anything in ProRes Raw myself. Non of the color managment tools seem to fix the problem. I'm able to use exposure setting in Pro Res Raw, and Lumetri to get the footage looking normal, but why do I have to do this for every clip?
Missed the boat on this one.
