Proxies are shorter on left and right sides.

Hello,

I'm working on a gig. On set, the DIT created proxies for the footage being shot. I imported the raw files, then attached them to their proxies. However, whenever I click "toggle proxies," the proxies appear shorter on either side than they do when you open them from the hard drive. They have black boxes on the left and right. They're not the right aspect ratio.

The original footage was 4608 x 3164. The proxies are 1920 X 1080, Apple ProRes 422 Proxy files. Please let me know what it could be. I can provide more details as well.

Well, the proxies are have the wrong aspect ratio. The should be 2,304 x 1,582, (that would be 1/2 size) otherwise divide your 2 numbers of the actual frame size by some divisor. Like 2.4 = 1920 x 1,318.33... So, the proxies are wrong for the footage. (edit: You got to be quick around her to beat Ann!) 🙂

4608x3164 is not 16:9, 1920x1080 is. Hence the black bars.
