Proxies disappear after rendering my timeline

Hello everyone!

I've been working on a project with proxies, but after I rendered for the 1st time the timeline reverted back to using the original clips even though the proxies were still linked *and* the 'Toggle Proxies' button was enabled.

So the timeline shows that I'm still using proxies, but the playback in the Program window isn't using them. I can't seem to figure out how to get back to using the actuual proxies, which is slowing my work flow and proving to be very frustrating.

As you can see in the attached screenshow, the clip that I have selected on the timeline is displaying a proxy icon and the source window has it as well, but the clip in the program window does not display the proxy icon in the lower left part of the screen. Hence, it seems to be playing back at full resolution.

Would appreciate any insight 🙏

In the render window, toggle down "General" and you will see a  "Use Proxies" button. That will allow you to render proxies in your timeline rather than the source footage.

@Jeff Elstone did you manage to solve the problem using the provided solution?

Where is the render window?

It's in the export dialog.  See attached screenshot.

make sure that the proxies are attached to the original clip.  You can turn on various options in the bin displays to show whether proxies are attached, their location, etc.  certain camera formats can be tricky to create proxies that will actually attach.

in particular certain sony formats are tricky because of some sort of proprietary audio format.  Premiere seems to have solved that issue in recent premiere versions.  The workaround (which might work for you) is to unlink the camera original and then relink to the proxies and when you're ready to output the final version, unlink the proxies and then relink to the camera original...

Ok, great... I'll give this a go. Thank you very much!
