Question

proxy edit for both vertical and horizontal

I have adobe premier pro 25.6.6. I am using the app Contentcam to get vertical and horizontal clips. Full disclose, I have never made a proxy edit. I know it isn’t hard. To get some of my clients onto the whole spectrum of social media, I have to do two edits. Aside from having to manually place two different lower thirds and sets of graphics, can you edit the vertical first, then apply that to the same horizontal clips?

I just wanted to see if anyone has tried this. Of do you have any thoughts before I jump in and try to experiment?

    Hi nelsonmason,

Welcome to the community! Just to make sure I understand what you’re trying to accomplish: are you asking whether you can make your vertical edit first, and then use that same edit/cut structure as the basis for the horizontal version, while making separate adjustments to the lower thirds and graphics?

Or are you specifically asking whether a proxy workflow would allow the vertical and horizontal versions to share the same underlying media?

If it’s the first one, I think there may be a good Premiere workflow for what you’re trying to do, and Auto Reframe may be part of it.

    Thanks,
    Sumeet

Yes, I would like to make the vertical edit first. Rather than star a new session and load all the horizontal clips to edit, I would like to apply the vertical edit cut and transition attributes to the horizontal edit. Since PP has a vertical edit templet/ability embedded, I was wondering if it could apply to speed up the initial cut. I can place graphics and lower thirds later.
