How do I put something on the Reference side in Comparison view? The internet says Window / Reference Monitor but I don’t have that option in PP 2026 for Mac.

    Correct answer R Neil Haugen

    Click on the timeine numbers of that Reference setting control, and slide to the right to change the timline time shown. My guess is your sequence is not actually starting on 0:0:0  so it’s showing the first frame of the sequence. As it is.

    @warr_0376 When Ii move the button you highlighted green, the Reference monitor remains black and the timecode doesn’t change (it stays at 00:00:00:00)

    Thanks @R Neil Haugen, and thanks @Warren Heaton for your help. I was trying to use the slider under the Reference monitor. By clicking on the TC numbers and click-dragging right, I was able to get the Reference monitor to work. I could then click on the timecode under the Ref monitor and type in a value. After that, I tried the slider again and it still didn’t work.

    When I use the control you point to with the green arrow, nothing happens. the Reference monitor stays black and the timecode stays at 00:00:00:00. I’m on PP 2026.4.1

    The reference frame is always and only from the sequence being worked on. You can’t ‘load’ a different sequence or clip, but only work within a sequence.

    So when you go into Comparison mode, you use the controls in that bit of the program monitor highlighted by Warren to select which clip, which frame of the clip, you are comparing to.

    YOU set that. With those controls.

    @KazuT_G

    The Reference shows footage in the current Sequence.

    Hi, @KazuT_G:

    Use the transport controls that appear directly below the Reference picture.  There’s a slider handle, previous edit button, timecode text field (click and drag or click and enter a value), and next edit button.

    How do I select which video to put on the Reference side? It’s black.

    @KazuT_G

    Maybe this screen shot will help.

    The Playhead is showing the current time 0:02:37:22 while the Reference is showing 0:01:07:20.  I placed a Timeline Marker at 0:01:07:20 to show where that is in the Timeline and selected the Clip Boundary in Video Track 1 at that time as well.
