Question

Quick Re-Exporting using video already exported

Hi all,

First:

I might be doing something wrong with my exporting.  Or it could be the fact that I'm on a laptop.  I have videos, sometimes in 4k, which I'm exporting at HD.  Usually just a 5 minute video would take like 6 hours.  These are my export setting, which were recommended to me from some tutorial for a good high quality export:

Codec: H.264

VBR 2 pass

Render at Maximum Depth

Maximum Render Quality

35 to 40 Mbps bitrate

A few problems I have with this, is the long render time, and the big file size (around 1 Gig).  I want to know if anyone has another recommendation for something just as good with less render time.

Second:

To make changes after my draft video, I know there's a way to render the whole thing once, then put it back into the project above my current videos, then cut out the bits of the rendered video, and fix the parts that need fixing by editing originals underneath.  However, I'm not sure how to do this so that it would be a quick render.

A few things that confuse me:  How to keep the project settings the same as the output, if that is needed (I usually drag in a clip at the beginning and click "yes" when asked if I want the sequence to match the settings of the video).

Which codec can I use for this quick-render workflow?

I appreciate it!

Turn off max render (if you have a dedicated videocard) and max depth. (hence the long export time)

Everytime you export dont overwrite but give it a new name.

    Post screenshot of export setting.

Thanks for the help.  This seemed to work for videos that I don't need the best quality for.  I just wonder if it will make a noticeable difference in quality for more serious projects.

Well I can just list the export settings here, like I did above:

    Codec: H.264

    mp4 file

    VBR 2 pass

    Render at Maximum Depth

    Maximum Render Quality

    35 to 40 Mbps bitrate

I imagine these are the only settings that would affect the render time, no?

Also, I have the rendered file, but I need to make a small change.  So I wish to do the quick render technique where I put the rendered file into the timeline, cut out the bit that needs changing and use the other videos in the project to fix that part of it, then render it again (but much faster).  I have yet to understand the set up needed to accomplish this technique and I'm hoping someone here can help.

    Thanks

I like to see screenshots, they tell me a lot more.

In Premiere rendering means making preview files, getting the finished product: exporting.

If I understand you correctly you are looking for smart render. That is only available for certain codec.
