Question

RAM not being released after closing

After I finish using Premiere Pro, I would close it through the File>Close and it does close the program. However often, it still has the instance open and it holds up around 70% of my RAM. This wouldn't be THAT being of an issue however, my Windows start menu stops working and I'm not sure what to do. Any help is much appreciated! Thank you.

Hi, Alex, sorry about the hassle. Would you be willing to follow the instructions in the link below in order to create a "dump file" of Premiere Pro after it should have exited, please? We can use that to determine what it's doing (and, thus, why it's holding onto your memory). This file will be very big, so you'll need to have somewhere to upload it. Once that's done please send me a link at jschroed@adobe.com and I'll take a look. Thanks!

Maybe just a typo, but File > Close do not close Premiere Pro, only the active panel.

To close Premiere Pro, use File > Exit. 🙂

Does this happen with a brand new project too, Alex? Let me know.

Thanks,
Kevin

Yeah, it does it everytime I even open Premiere.
