This has started happening to me too on an M1 Mac. I'm just trying to export short clips to then reuse in my project, but after exporting (either direct from premiere or via media encoder) the project becomes laggy and then unusable! The project remains broken after force-quitting and reopening. My workaround has been to create a new project and import the entire previous project into it, then everything runs smoothly again. Certainly a new bug, I've not had this happen before and it's obviously incredibly hurting my workflow...

    We need more details. What version of Premiere, which M1 Mac, what video codec and what export format, and then are you doing anything after export (like reimporting the export).
