re-link audio and video files separately?

i have edited a very large file in 720p. i have another copy of the exact same file in 1080p, but without audio. i want to update linked files so that the video is updated to1080p, but the audio is still taken from the 720p video, without having to edit either of them again.

my solution so far has been to make a new sequence, drop the 1080p video and 720p audio, and render a third unedited copy of the video, this time with full resolution and sound, and link that. however, this is going to take a long time. so i'm wondering if there's a simpler solution.

You can do this with a copy of your project.

Open project A and 'Save as' project B.

I project B, unlink your media and then link to hi-res media with no audio. Audio clips on timeline will disappear.

Open Project A (which will still have audio and video linked to low-res) and drag your video clips from project B onto your project A timeline.

There are probably other ways of doing this but this is the first that comes to mind.
