Hi there.
I have the same issue "Subtitles not appearing in Premiere Pro" but in v25.2.3. When click on the wrench icon, there is no  Choose Closed Caption Display option.

Hi there,

Welcome to the community! Closed Caption Display option is from an older version of Premiere Pro. Now, to display captions/subtitles, you need to toggle the eye icon for the caption track on the timeline. If you are not seeing the subtitles, please ensure that Align and Transform properties for the subtitles are correctly set (select the subtitle on the timeline & navigate to Windows > Properties to access it).

Thanks,

Sumeet

@excited_reporter5E82,

The wrench icon is no longer needed to enable caption display. The only control you have is to enable/disable each caption track (eyeball). Note that with the addition of translation of captions in 25.2.?, you can now have multiple caption tracks enabled at once.

Edit:

There is a problem for some users on Mac, but not related to removal of the "show captions" option.
