Reading the XMP Metadata written within RMD sidecar files for R3D footage...

I know the XMP metadata is written to the RMD sidecar files for R3D footage but it's showing up as a raw data and not in a readable XML format. Is there any way to decode this data for use outside of Premiere Pro? I am trying to read the XMP data inside CatDV and it cannot discern it because it's 8500 seemingly random characters.

While there's a possibility that someone here will come up with a solution, it might be better to check out a RED-specific forum. They may have better intel for you.

I was certainly a little bummed to learn Adobe encodes their XMP data written to the RMD file, I will hold out hope someone else has need this data outside the Adobe ecosystem and figured out a solution.

Unfortunately the RedUser forum won't let users search three character words like XMP or RMD... It's not like file extensions are 3 characters long or anything 😭

Did you try reaching out to CatDV as well?

I don't know that this is a Premiere Pro issue as opposed to RED's implementation of RMD. Premiere is simply writing the metadata back to the sidecar file format dictated by the raw media; other formats would write to XMP or else directly to the file itself.
