Realistic editing time for someone proficient in Premiere
I am in the process of learning Premiere for my job. I have been tasked with editing instructional videos that have a top-down view of an instructor teaching an art project. I'm trying to determine if the number of hours they have budgeted for each video editing project is realistic or not. Here are the specs:
- Cut 80-100 minutes of raw footage down to 15 minutes. Minimal guidance is provided by curriculum designer on out cutting unnecessary content, but it's up to me to catch and cut repetitive language, filler words, pauses, etc., plus create timelapses and add transitions.
- Create and add 5-7 slides with graphics and text (most graphics are provided, but a few might need to be created from scratch in Illustrator)
- Add pre-made intro and outro clips
- Add 60-80 graphic icons that pop up for ~3 seconds (probably utilizing a mogrt template). Most graphics are provided, but 10-20 of these may need to be created in Illustrator.
- Add 5-10 Chapter titles
- Add 5-10 text pop-ups ("Tips")
- Adjust audio/voice if needed
- Add music and adjust levels to when instructor is talking/not talking
- Incorporate any revisions from team
- Export to mp4 and upload to Wistia (not counting passive time for this task)
I am pretty new to Premiere, but have edited videos in other programs like Capcut, so I'm not a complete newbie.
Can anyone with significant experience editing long-form videos in Premiere give me an educated guess on how many hours a project like this might take? They have budgeted 10 hours per video, which seems very ambitious, even for someone with more experience than me, but I could be wrong. I can't share the first finished video I created publicly, but I could potentially share privately if taking a look would help you give a better estimate.
Also, we are open to exploring AI tools that could help speed up this process. Any recommendations are welcome. Thank you!!
